Illinois Decides Your Kid’s Brain Needs Annual Government Approval...
Because nothing says “freedom” like a mandatory mental check for 8-year-olds. Consent is optional...as long as you consent!
Illinois Just Declared Ownership of Your Kids again, the state of Illinois has graced us with another pile of legislative bovine feces. This time, Governor JB Pritzker, defender of feelings and destroyer of liberty has decided your children need yearly mental health screenings.
Not offered.
Not recommended.
Mandatory.
What Could Go Wrong?
I mean really. What could possibly go wrong when the state gets to determine the mental stability of your 9-year-old?
What could go wrong when a government that can’t track spending, count votes, or fix public schools suddenly decides it’s qualified to peer inside your kid’s brain?
What could go wrong when a teacher catches your son daydreaming in class and now he’s on a government list as “high risk”?
What could go wrong when they say, “We won’t force anything on your child,” but your kid can’t return to school unless you agree to their plan: counseling, meds, or both?
Oh, but don’t worry.
There’s an opt-out clause.
Because nothing says freedom of choice like a law that assumes you’ve consented unless you wrestle a bureaucratic hydra with a Post-it note and a deadline.
The Setup to Fail
Kids as young as 8 will be handed surveys asking if they’ve ever wished they were dead.
You think that’s helpful? Or is it like asking a toddler if they’ve seen ghosts, then acting shocked when they say yes?
Pritzker’s crew says the goal is to “identify trauma before it escalates.”
Cute. But these are the same folks who think masks in gym class were cutting-edge science.
And here’s the best part: they’re not even ready.
The State Board of Education has until 2026 to figure out:
How the screenings will be done
How referrals will work
How to protect student privacy
But sure, let’s hand over your kid’s mental health records. What could go wrong?
Real Questions, Zero Answers
Let’s ask the questions Pritzker won’t:
Who is collecting the data?
Who gets to decide what “normal” looks like?
What happens if your kid doesn’t meet the standard?
What if you say no to therapy or medication?
Think they’ll just let it go?
Or do you think your kid’s flagged, sidelined, maybe barred from school unless you play along?
Coming to a Liberal State Near You
Once the teachers unions and activist legislators get a whiff of this power grab, watch the dominoes fall.
California.
New York.
Oregon.
And every other state run by people who think parenting is a government privilege.
This isn’t about helping.
It’s about owning.
Let’s Talk “Screening”
By calling it a screening, they bypass the need for parental consent.
It’s not a diagnosis, it’s just a check-up!
Like when your mechanic tells you your car might explode unless you pay $1,200 for a new sensor.
Totally optional.
Until it’s not.
The Mental Health Industrial Complex
Author Abigail Shrier nailed it: kids are wildly suggestible.
Ask a child enough times if they’re depressed, and eventually… they just might decide they are.
And then?
The label sticks
The pills start
The therapy becomes a crutch
And that child spends years thinking they’re broken
This Isn’t Help. It’s Psychological Colonization.
And Pritzker? He wants to be the king of it.
You want mental health support in schools? Great.
Make it available. Make it voluntary. Make it something parents initiate.
Not something the government mandates, tracks, and enforces like we’re raising livestock.
Because if they can screen your kid today…
They’ll start programming your kid tomorrow.
Final Thought
Wake up, Illinois and the rest of the country!
Or watch your rights disappear while they smile and say it’s for your own good.
You Cool with That?
And then tell me again…
What could go wrong?
Back when we trusted school officials this might be benign. That ship has sailed !
One solution is to quit putting wannabe communists (Pritzger) in office. The ultimate opt out option is leaving Illinois since there is little indication of the first happening except to replace with another leftist.
This is nothing new. Ostentatiously use to address delinquents who are disruptive in class, this then gets used to assess and correct students guilty of crimethink. I remember something like it from at least the early 1970s. The actual mental health of children is the least of their concerns.
