And this time the betrayal comes wrapped in the language of “rights” and “balance.”

A civilisation that once vowed “never again” is abandoning the people who helped build its freedoms. The quiet Jewish exodus from the West has already begun.

The West is sleepwalking toward the loss of its Jewish citizens in what may be the most absurd chapter in the Jews’ long history of tragedy. Unlike previous moral cataclysms, this undoing comes not from a single tyrant or ideology, but from the corrosion of a civilization that has forgotten how to protect the people who built so much of it.

Even as a fragile and tentative ceasefire holds in Gaza, Jews in the West are discovering that the nations they defended, enriched, and profoundly shaped have become increasingly inhospitable and, in some places, borderline unlivable.

The question is well past whether Jewish persecution could happen again in the West. It is happening. The mechanisms are unmistakable, the patterns familiar, and the implications dire and permanent.

If you want to understand what will make Jews leave, look at the police. Western governments vowed “never again” after the Holocaust, and for a good while they meant it. Even a hint of antisemitism would bring the fuzz to your door. Today, police stand and watch mobs chant for Israel’s destruction, call for the genocide of its people, harass visibly Jewish citizens, and drive antisemitic intimidation deep into urban life.

In London, Melbourne, Paris, Amsterdam, Toronto, and elsewhere, Jews report the same dismal experience: they call the police about an antisemitic threat and see no action taken. They are told harassment is “protected speech,” that antisemitic assaults are “difficult to prove,” and that even death threats must be understood in the “context of global politics.”

Hypothetical concerns are fretted over while Jewish victims’ very real dangers are dismissed.

The police are trapped in a pseudo-academic hallucination; trying to maintain “balance.” They now believe their job is to enforce the law only if it does not risk upsetting violent constituencies. This makes Jews expendable, because defending them risks confrontation. So the police retreat, and Islamists and other grotesque antisemites advance.

As history shows, and as we shall sadly see again soon, civilizations that cease defending their Jews reveal a deeper societal decline. It is a lesson the West refuses to learn or, for some reason, is now incapable of learning.

The ultimate test of a society’s tolerance is whether someone visibly Jewish can walk down the street without fear. In too many Western capitals, the answer has become “no.”

Jews are again donning caps instead of kippahs, dressing generically with no cultural markers, and avoiding even a tote bag with Hebrew on it. When a minority must erase itself to move safely through a city, its civil rights have already been eroded.

This is not normal or acceptable, and it is certainly not “different this time.” Those who insist the present situation is unique because Jews are now merely one minority among many in a multicultural, multireligious mosaic are suffering from an acute condition called being completely wrong.

A civilisation that vowed “never again” is reneging on the promise that defined it.

For decades, Western democracies understood something sacred: their credibility rested on whether a Jew could walk down the street without fear. It was a civilizational boundary line, a moral firewall built out of ashes. “Never again” was not just a slogan; it was a standard for a society’s health.

Today, that firewall is cracking. And the people who helped build the West’s freedoms are discovering that the civilization they enriched has quietly stopped defending them.

This is not a hypothetical threat. It’s not a distant warning. It is happening right now, in real time.

The Normalization of the Unthinkable

Across the United States, Canada, the UK, France, Australia, and Europe, the same story repeats: Jews call the police about harassment, threats, or explicit calls for genocide — and hear that it is “protected speech,” that it is “context-dependent,” that it is “politically sensitive.”

The result is unmistakable:

• Jewish students trapped in buildings while mobs outside call for their murder

• Police officers watching passively as demonstrators chant for ethnic cleansing

• Jews told not to report incidents unless “physical injury” occurs

• Death threats treated as “political expression”

• Jewish institutions forced to hire private security because state protection is unreliable

The message is not subtle. The rules are not consistent.
If you are Jewish, your rights now come with an asterisk.

Fear Is Becoming the New Default

In Western capitals once considered the safest in the world, Jews are doing something they have not done in decades: erasing themselves.

• Kippahs traded for baseball caps

• Hebrew lettering covered or removed

• Mezuzahs taken off doors

• Children told not to speak Hebrew on the street

• Routes to school changed to avoid marches, protests, or “high-risk areas”

You cannot call this “diversity,” “free speech,” or “multiculturalism.”
This is what happens when a minority internalizes that the system will not protect them.

A society has already failed when its Jews must hide.

The Police Are the Canary in the Coal Mine

If you want to know why Jews are preparing exit plans, don’t look at social media, university protests, or op-ed pages.

Look at law enforcement.

For decades, the West understood that antisemitism was the front end of a deeper moral decay, a signal that something had gone wrong in the democratic immune system. Because of that, even the hint of antisemitic hostility triggered intervention.

Now the calculus has changed.

Police forces have absorbed a new ideology:

• Avoid confrontation with “sensitive” constituencies.

• Redefine harassment as “speech.”

• Maintain “balance” at all costs.

• Do not enforce the law if doing so risks unrest.

And Jews, being statistically unthreatening and politically safe to ignore, are the easiest group to deprioritize.

This is the same psychological logic that allowed every wave of antisemitic degradation in history to accelerate long before the “big events” arrived.
Not because the police hated Jews.
But because protecting them was deemed inconvenient.

This Time Is Not “Different”

There is a comforting illusion that today’s antisemitism is somehow unique, that Jews are simply one community among many in a pluralistic mosaic.

This is delusion disguised as sophistication.

Democracies do not collapse all at once. They decay at their edges and historically, the Jewish edge is the first to fray. Not because Jews are central to every conflict, but because antisemitism is a stress test for a civilization’s integrity.

Fail it, and the whole structure begins to rot.

The West is failing it.

People imagine that the “loss” of Western Jews would look like dramatic scenes; mass departures, burning synagogues, a sudden crisis.

That isn’t how it happens.

It happens like this:

• Families quietly applying for Israeli citizenship “just in case”

• Jewish students choosing universities based on safety, not academics

• Communities relocating from city centers to suburbs

• Professionals taking jobs abroad they once would have rejected

• Parents asking whether their grandchildren will still be here

No headlines.
No declaration.
Just a steady, silent migration of people who have concluded they must take responsibility for their own survival because the societies they upheld are shrugging.

A Civilization That Forgets Its Jews Forgets Itself

The question is not simply whether Jews will stay in the West.

The deeper, darker question is:
What does a civilization become when it no longer feels obligated to protect its Jews?

The answer is not pretty.

When a society decides that one minority especially the one that historically tested its moral reflexes can be shouted down, threatened, or forced into hiding without consequence, it reveals a new governing principle:

Cowardice now outranks justice. Fear outranks duty. “Balance” outranks truth.

And once those principles take hold, they do not remain confined to the Jews.

They metastasize.

The Choice Is Still in the West’s Hands

Despite everything, the story is not finished.

There are millions of non-Jews who are horrified by this moment, who feel betrayed by their institutions, who recognize the dangerous double standard, and who want their countries to be better than this.

Antisemitism is rising, yes.
But it is also exposing fault lines that could become catalysts.
The West is not doomed, but it is drifting, and drift becomes destiny if no one corrects course.

The question is no longer whether the threat is real.
It is whether Western nations will rediscover the moral spine they once possessed: the one that made a simple premise the bedrock of their identity:

A Jew must be able to walk freely and openly in our streets.

If that standard collapses, the loss will not be the Jews.

It will be the West.
