Let’s get one thing straight from the jump: Trump didn’t vote on anything. So blaming him for the latest government shutdown is like blaming your ex for the mess your current spouse made. Grow up.

This shutdown? It had Senate Democrats’ fingerprints all over it. For over 40 days, they stonewalled funding for SNAP and EBT benefits. Yeah, that’s right, the same people who scream about compassion and poor folks left them high and dry to play chicken with government funding. And then, just when it started to stink enough to rot through their poll numbers, a few of them cracked. Eight, to be exact. That’s all it took to unravel Schumer’s grip and send a new funding resolution limping back to the House.

And why did they block the funding in the first place? Because they wanted to tie it to the rotting corpse of Obamacare. See, back during the pandemic, Democrats slipped in a fat bonus check to insurance companies under the American Rescue Plan. They jacked up Obamacare subsidies to hide just how expensive that disaster really is. No Republican backed it, and for good reason: it was a one-year band-aid taped over a ten-year tumor.

But shocker, that “one year” subsidy became yet another eternal government grift. Republicans finally said hell no. They regained power and refused to keep funneling tax dollars into insurance company vaults just to prop up the Obamacare fantasy. The Dems spun it as “Republicans are raising your premiums!” when in reality, they were just letting the public see the price tag on the healthcare clown show Democrats built.

Now, ask yourself this: if Obamacare was so damn great, why did they need emergency subsidies to keep it from imploding? Exactly.

Bottom line: Senate Democrats shut it down. Not Trump. Not Republicans. They played Russian roulette with poor folks’ food benefits to save face on a failed healthcare scheme.

And let’s be real if we scrapped the whole Obamacare nightmare and actually let people pick their own plans with some smart, limited government help. Costs would crater. Choice would skyrocket. And the insurance companies wouldn’t be feeding at the taxpayer trough.

But here’s the real problem. I don’t think the politicians are afraid of shutting down Obamacare because they care about your health. No. What they’re terrified of is what happens if they do, they lose power. Real power. See, if we actually gave people control over their own health insurance, we’d be ripping a giant lever out of Washington’s grubby hands. And that scares the hell out of them.

After all, the word “Politician” comes from ancient Greece. Poly meaning many. And Tics, meaning blood-sucking beings. Tell me I’m wrong on that one!!!

But hey, keep voting for the people who promise you the moon and deliver a bill. What could go wrong?
